Chairman’s Message
Developing this Strategic Plan could not have come at a more crucial time. Kenya and the world at large continue to grapple with significant challenges, including unemployment, food insecurity, inadequate housing, poor healthcare, weak infrastructure, inefficient transport systems, and governance issues. The COVID-19 pandemic further complicated these challenges, intensifying the need for sustainable solutions.
In response, various public and private institutions have been established to tackle these pressing issues. However, in this endeavor, duplication of efforts, competition, and resource wastage have often hindered progress. Recognizing this, both the government and key development players have shifted focus toward a more unified approach—Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET)—which has become the foundation for skills development across all sectors, thanks to the enactment of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Acts.
It is within this context that the Kenya Association for Certified Training Providers for Industry (KACET) was founded, seeking to establish a balanced and coordinated framework for all TVET training providers. Our goal is to bring together individuals, institutions, and both public and private stakeholders to enhance specialized TVET training, thereby improving the quality of goods and services for local consumption and international markets.
To achieve this, KACET has developed a comprehensive five-year Strategic Plan—a roadmap that defines clear milestones and core implementation drivers. This plan is designed to foster collaboration among all certified TVET providers, ensuring they have a dedicated platform to align their training with global industrial standards. By emphasizing technical excellence and efficiency, we aim to drive high-tech production and address labor inefficiencies, ultimately positioning Kenya as a globally competitive industrialized nation.
We invite you to join us in this transformative journey. Your participation and input are invaluable as we work together to strengthen Kenya’s workforce and drive sustainable industrial growth. Let us unite our efforts to shape a future where skills development leads to economic prosperity and a better quality of life for all.
